Piaget x @morillo55 Classic 55 Event

Piaget x @morillo55 Classic 55 Event

On May 22nd 2024, Piaget's Hudson Yards Boutique was closed early to welcome collectors, friends, and watch enthusiasts to commemorate Piaget's past, present and future. I was in attendance on behalf of Rare-Wrist and had a great evening full of watches and good company.

Two large showcases in the middle of the boutique showcased seasoned collector Gai Gohari's (@morillo55 on Instagram) extensive vintage Piaget collection. Around the walls of the boutique were Piaget's modern and brand new offerings- with most being available for immediate purchase.

This was obviously the star of the show and where most were focused on during the night. After years of following Gai on Instagram and seeing daily posts of beautiful stone dial, gem set and unique Piaget watches- it was amazing to finally see over 20 of them in the metal. My favorite include his Lapis Lazuli dial Beta 21 and an 18K yellow gold oval Piaget with integrated cuban bracelet.

The Modern Piaget Offerings:

Although the brand new 18K Yellow Gold Piaget Polo 79 took the spotlight, we also admired this Piaget Altiplano Ultimate watch in 18K White Gold with a mesmerizing rotor alongside the inner bezel and a skeleton dial all within a 4.30mm thick case.

Our hands down favorite of them all, though, are the "Andy Warhol" stone dial pieces which were available to try on in 18K Rose Gold/Lapis Lazuli and 18K White Gold/Malachite variants. At the boutique, sales associates informed us there was only one lapis lazuli stone dial left to be custom made into a rose gold, white gold, or platinum case for a customer. The rose gold/lapis one was already sold at the time. We browsed Piaget's stone dial catalog and had a chance to select from an endless amount of options.

Overall it was a great event and we appreciate Piaget for not only looking forward and innovating, but also taking a step back to appreciate and draw inspiration from their history. While many brands already do this, it was refreshing seeing a brand partner with a seasoned-collector to showcase their collection- and there was no better person to choose than Gai.

Until next time,

Connor from Rare Wrist
