Care Information

While vintage watches, especially mechanical ones, are intended for wearing, they are also delicate compared to their modern counterparts. With that being said, take good care of them and your vintage/secondhand watches can outlive you. The following care recommendations will assist in maintaining your vintage watch.

1. For quartz watches, the watch will deliver with the correct current time and date set already. No service is required except battery changes in 1-2 years.

For automatic watches, the timepiece will self-wind with your natural movements. Do not shake the watch for it to run.

Manual wind mechanical watches require you to wind the watch manually in order to run. To wind your watch, either unscrew or pull out the crown to the first position and rotate the crown clockwise slowly. If you are doing it correctly, the time/date should not be changing, you should feel a little resistance on the crown and you should hear a faint winding noise. Continue this for a few seconds or until you feel the crown start to give a little resistance. Do not overwind as this can cause permanent damage to your watch's movement.

2. To change the date on your watch, pull the crown out to the second position. Pull the crown out once more to change the time. If your watch has a screw down crown, unscrew the crown by turning it counterclockwise until you feel it release from the threads.

3. Vintage and second-hand watches are likely not water-resistant to their original rating. We suggest you consult a local watchmaker before bringing any watch in or near water.

4. Always place your watch down on a soft flat surface.

5. Unless recent service was stated on our listing, we recommend you to service your vintage watch for it to run accurately in the long-term. We always suggest bringing your watch to a brand-specific watch service center.

6. Unless you have successfully done it before with the correct tools, we don't suggest trying to open the watch, adding/removing links or changing batteries yourself. Please visit a trained watchmaker to do these for you. Any work done on a watch will void our 5-day inspection period.
