18K Cartier Ceinture Watch

Our Perspective:

Cartier’s design language has always balanced timelessness with unmistakable presence, and this 1970s Cartier Ceinture is no exception. Introduced during a period when Cartier was exploring more geometric case shapes, the Ceinture- French for “belt”- is defined by its soft octagonal/squared profile and signature stepped case, reminiscent of a belt buckle. This 25mm x 25mm 18K yellow gold case embodies that design beautifully, paired with a desirable white lacquer "Paris" stamped dial that enhances its architectural yet understated aesthetic.

While many ladies’ watches of the era leaned heavily toward quartz movements, this piece stands apart with its manual-winding Cartier Caliber 78-1, offering a more traditional and engaging mechanical experience. Measuring just 6.5mm thick, it maintains a slim, elegant presence on the wrist, especially by what we think is it's original black crocodile strap and original 18K yellow gold deployant clasp from the 1970s.

Condition Report:

Case: Seemingly unpolished condition with medium scratches and small nicks throughout. Sharp engravings and hallmarks on caseback and buckle.

Strap/Bracelet: Original Cartier black crocodile strap has medium signs of wear. Original Cartier 18K yellow gold deployant buckle has medium scratches throughout. Both the strap and buckle were most likely born with this watch, which is extremely rare to see. Fits a maximum wrist size of 6.25 Inches.

Dial/Crystal/Hands: White lacquer dial and blued steel hands are in near-perfect condition, probably the most well-preserved we've ever seen. Minor signs of age may be visible under magnification. Crystal has medium scratches and signs of wear throughout.

Movement: Movement is in beautiful aesthetic condition and is running strong and well within spec with a 5-position average of -9.9 S/D | 267° AMP | .2 MS BE. 

Watch comes with it's original Cartier Paris box.
