18K Cartier Tank Louis Extra Plate 1612 WA3005K3 Teardrop Bracelet Watch

Our Perspective:

The Tank Louis Cartier has remained one of the Maison's most recognizable designs since its introduction in 1922. While most examples are found on leather straps, Cartier also offered a number of exceptional solid gold bracelets that give the familiar Tank an entirely different character. Among these, the Teardrop bracelet is particularly special, featuring intricately interlocking, rounded gold links that resemble falling droplets. Reportedly offered exclusively to Cartier's VIP clientele, it is far less frequently encountered than the traditional beads-of-rice bracelet and remains one of Cartier's more unusual bracelet designs.

This 18K yellow gold Tank Louis Ref. 1612 / WA3005K3 measures 23.5mm x 30mm and just 5mm thick, housing a manually wound movement within its remarkably slim case. The beautifully executed guilloché dial is complemented by a factory-set diamond bezel, adding another layer of refinement without overwhelming the classic Tank design. Presented in unpolished condition, this example retains its original case proportions and is fitted with the distinctive Teardrop bracelet. The contrast between the Tank's clean, geometric lines, diamond-set bezel, and the bracelet's soft, organic shapes is what makes this configuration so appealing. In our opinion, it is one of the most beautiful bracelet designs Cartier has produced, transforming an already iconic watch into something considerably more unusual and collectible.

Condition Report:

Case: Unpolished case has been regularly worn with moderate scratches and small indentations throughout.

Strap/Bracelet: Original Cartier 18K teardrop bracelet has moderate scratches throughout. Watch fits a maximum wrist size of 6.75" and comes with 1 extra link to fit up to 7".

Dial/Crystal/Hands: Dial and hands are in very well-preserved condition with little to no signs of age/wear. Crystal has light signs of wear/scratches throughout.

Movement: Manual-winding Cartier caliber winds, sets and runs with a 5-position average of +19 S/D | 251° AMP | 0.1MS BE.
