18K Piaget 9741 Retailed by Van Cleef & Arpels Watch

Few brands embody the elegance of ultra-thin dress watches quite like Piaget. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the brand established itself as a leader in combining exceptional watchmaking, precious materials, and jewelry-inspired design, creating some of the most distinctive dress watches of the era.

This circa 1970s reference 9741 is a beautiful example of that philosophy. Crafted in 18K yellow gold, the watch features an elegant 29mm x 31mm cushion shaped case measuring just 5mm thick, showcasing the slim proportions for which Piaget became famous. The standout feature is its retailer-signed dial, bearing both the Piaget and Van Cleef & Arpels signatures, indicating the watch was originally sold through the prestigious jewelry house. Such double-signed dials are highly sought after by collectors, representing a unique partnership between two of the most respected names in Swiss luxury and fine jewelry. The combination of ultra-thin construction, precious metal craftsmanship, and retailer provenance makes this a particularly compelling vintage Piaget.

Condition Report:

Case: Watch has signs of regular wear including heavy scratches and indentations throughout. Caseback retains deep engravings and hallmarks.

Bracelet: Replacement generic burgundy crocodile strap shows medium creasing and wear throughout. Generic replacement gold-tone pin buckle has medium scratches. Fits a maximum wrist size of 6.75".

Dial: Original Piaget double stamped "Van Cleef & Arpels" dial shows medium damage and age throughout including scratches and spotting. There is visible discoloration on the top right corner of dial.

Movement: Piaget Cal. 9P is in well-preserved aesthetic condition and running well with a 5-position average of +4.7 S/D | 277° AMP | 0.3MS BE.
