14K Rolex Oyster Perpetual Watch

Our Perspective: 

The Oyster Perpetual ref. 1002 is a Rolex that isn't seen too often. It features a brushed gold case paired with a smooth high polish bezel, giving it a clean and timeless look. This example dates to 1979 and is seldom found on its original 14K gold Oyster rivet bracelet, which is stamped with a matching clasp code from the same period. The bracelet contains 12 links and comfortably fits up to a 7.5-inch wrist. The watch retains its original champagne gold sunburst dial, complemented by applied polished gold hour markers and tritium-coated gold hands which creates a great tone-on-tone look. 

Inside runs the dependable Rolex Caliber 1570, an automatic movement with approximately 42 hours of power reserve, known for its accuracy and longevity. The watch is running well and remains a beautifully preserved example of a late 1970s Oyster Perpetual- clean, elegant, and rarely found complete in full original condition.

Condition Report:

Good vintage condition. Watch shows signs of polishing and moderate scratches throughout. There are small indentations throughout the case and bracelet from daily wear. Dial is in good condition with oxidation/discoloration at the center of the dial and faint markings. Light scratches and small chips on original acrylic crystal. Original 14K gold rivet oyster bracelet has 12 links and fits a wrist size of 7.5" or smaller. Extra links have been added later by a professional jeweler. D code on clasp from 1979 matches the 5.8 million serial also dating to 1979. Movement is free from damage and runs very well with a 5 position average of -4 S/D | 299° AMP | 0.6MS BE.
