Our Perspective:
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most influential watch designs ever created. Since its introduction in 1945, its proportions and design language have been adopted by countless watch brands, a testament to just how timeless the original remains. This 9XXXXXX serial 1986 Ref. 16013 embodies everything that has made the Datejust an icon, pairing a 36mm stainless steel case with 18K yellow gold accents, a champagne dial, the signature fluted bezel, and the quickset Caliber 3035. As one of the last acrylic crystal Datejust references, it offers the charm of vintage Rolex with the convenience of a modern quickset date.
What makes this example especially appealing is its honest originality and excellent state of preservation. The case retains thick lugs and a sharp fluted bezel, while the Jubilee bracelet remains in good condition with the correct clasp code matching the case serial. The original tritium dial and hands remain untouched, preserving the watch's authenticity, and it is accompanied by its original 1986 warranty papers. The 3035 movement runs excellent and date jumps perfectly at midnight. Altogether, it is the kind of honest, well-preserved vintage Datejust that becomes increasingly difficult to find.
