While Rolex is best known for its sport models, the discontinued Cellini collection offered the brand an opportunity to showcase a more refined and traditional side of watchmaking. This 1996 Cellini reference 4127 is an excellent example, crafted entirely in 18K yellow gold and distinguished by its beautifully executed hobnail bezel, a detail that adds texture, depth, and character to an otherwise understated dress watch. Measuring 24mm x 34mm and just 5.5mm thick, it wears with the slim, elegant proportions expected of a classic dress watch.
What makes this particular example especially desirable is its completeness and preservation. Offered as a rare full set with its original box, papers, serialized hang tag, calendar card, manuals, and accessories, it represents the type of package collectors hope to find but rarely do nearly three decades later. Retaining its original Rolex strap and 18K yellow gold Rolex buckle, and presented in exceptional overall condition, this Cellini is a reminder of just how elegant and well-executed Rolex dress watches can be.
Condition Report:
Case: Unpolished case has signs of regular wear including medium scratches and small dings throughout.
Strap/Bracelet: Original Rolex brown crocodile strap shows medium creasing and wear throughout with an additional sizing hole added. The original 18K yellow gold Rolex pin buckle displays medium scratches and is signed "Rolex S.A." and "750." Fits a maximum wrist size of 7.25 inches.
Dial/Crystal/Hands: Dial, sapphire crystal, and hands are in excellent condition with minimal signs of age or wear. There is slight discoloration on the dial between 3 and 4 o'clock that is only visible under certain lighting conditions and viewing angles (pictured in last image).
Movement: Manual-winding Rolex Caliber 1601 is in extremely well-preserved condition and is running at a strong 5-position average of -1.5 S/D | 297° AMP | 0.5MS BE.
Included: Original black leather Rolex Cellini box, original punched guarantee papers dated 1994, Cellini instruction manual, calendar card & original serialized tag.
