Our Perspective:

The Cartier Santos Dumont is rooted in the legacy of Alberto Santos-Dumont, a Brazilian aviator who, in 1904, asked his friend Louis Cartier to design a wristwatch that would allow him to easily check the time while flying. At the time, Santos-Dumont was tired of fumbling with a pocket watch during his flights, and this collaboration resulted in the first pilot’s wristwatch, which became the iconic Cartier Santos-Dumont. This watch marked a significant milestone in horology, and it remains a staple in Cartier's collection even today.
In 1994, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Santos-Dumont, Cartier released a limited edition of just 90 pieces of the Reference 1575. This model features a platinum case along with a salmon-colored dial and rare blued Breguet-style hands. This 1575 is powered by the manual-wound Cartier 021MC movement based on the F.Piguet Cal.21, which was once the thinnest watch movement available. The back of the case is engraved with "Santos Dumont" and the edition number, making this piece an exceptional collector's item.

Condition Report:

Very Good overall condition. Minor scratches and indentations throughout case and bezel. Case is sharp and remains in seemingly unpolished condition. Generic black crocodile strap and original 18K White Gold Cartier Deployant Clasp.

Condition Grade: 8.75/10
