Our Perspective:
Theo Fennell (a British Jewelry Designer) and Franck Muller collaborated a few times, releasing a few limited edition steel watches in quantities around 50pcs. Along with these, special editions were made in precious metal and were significantly more limited. Numbered 03/03, this final piece in the Nile series is unlike the other two known examples, which were set only with white diamonds and sold publicly at auction (The last one hammered for $27k USD in 2022). This watch stands apart with its distinctive black diamond setting, usually offered to important clients, making it a true one-of-a-kind among an already exclusive Nile trio.
The case is crafted in heavy solid 18K white gold, with a tonneau shape that exudes Franck Muller's signature presence on the wrist. Set with brilliant-cut black diamonds along the case, lugs, and buckle, this piece diverges from the previously known 01/03 and 02/03 models, both of which featured white diamonds. The dial is finished in a striking mint green guilloché pattern, a rare aesthetic that complements the red “Nile” inscription and Theo Fennell’s signature at 12 o’clock. The original black leather strap, with matching mint green stitching, pairs seamlessly with the case and is secured by a white gold buckle set with black diamonds. The watch weighs over 150 grams.
As the final numbered watch in the series and the only example known to feature black diamonds, it represents an extraordinary opportunity for collectors seeking true exclusivity. This is not just a rare Franck Muller, but a creation representing the ultimate evolution of a limited-edition collaboration between two icons of design in jewelry and horology.
