The Gruen Watch Company, once a major watch producer in the US, operated from 1894 to 1958 and was headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. This model is perhaps their most interesting and covetable watch produced, with only a few examples available at any given time. The Gruen Barclay watch, nicknamed "Spider" because of the case shape, features a patented veri-thin manual winding movement, matte black dial, domed acrylic crystal and 10K gold-filled case.
Condition Report:
Very Good vintage condition. Case shows moderate scratches throughout and discoloration/wear at lugs. Light scratches at crystal. Dial and hands have expected moderate signs of age. Replacement strap, buckle and crown. For a watch nearly 75 years old, it is in incredible wearable condition. Watch sets and runs, but is highly inaccurate; service is recommended to meet expected timekeeping standards. Movement is clean from rust and damage.
