Jaeger-LeCoultre Coronet Watch

Our Perspective:

Jaeger-LeCoultre is often called the watchmaker’s watchmaker for good reason, having built movements trusted by some of the most prestigious brands in the world. But with this piece, the real beauty and rarity lies in the case, though the movement still certainly holds its own.

During the 1950s, Jaeger-LeCoultre produced a number of interesting designs, many of which were created exclusively for the U.S. market under the LeCoultre name. Among them, the Coronet stands out as one of the rarest and most distinctive. Its case design is unlike anything else even today, featuring elegant looped lugs and a Maltese cross shaped crystal that immediately sets it apart.

This example features a 14K gold filled case and is powered by the manual wind Caliber 480 C/W, paired with a brushed silver dial accented by gold hands, numerals, and dot markers, a perfect balance of creative design and refined mid century watchmaking.

Condition Report:

Good vintage condition. Case shows evidence of prior polishing and daily wear- including scratches, dents and base metal exposure. Crown plating has been worn off. Dial has medium markings throughout. Hands show medium discoloration. Crystal has moderate damage around edges and light scratches. Watch is presented on a generic black lizard strap and generic gold-toned buckle. Movement winds, sets and runs but has inaccurate/inconsistent timing results. A full service is recommended for accurate timekeeping.
