When most people hear "Seiko", they either think about the "cheap and reliable" brand or Grand Seiko, the luxury older brother with perfect finishing and value. However, just a few of those in the know, think about King Seiko. Operating between 1960 and 1975, King Seiko was produced in Seikosha's Daini Factory, while Grand Seiko was produced in their Suwa Factory. The two factories focused on different objectives, but both produced beautiful, accurate watches. King Seiko was JDM (Domestic-Japanese), which is why this watch has a 3-color day wheel in both Japanese Kanji and English. Other notable features of this King Seiko include the unique oblong UFO shape, the Daini Lightning Bolt Logo on the dial and caseback and the quickset day-date mechanism in the chronometer movement.
