Our Perspective:

This 1979 Rolex Datejust Ref. 16013 is far from your average two-tone datejust. Unlike modern versions that use 18K gold, this late 1970s example features the period-correct construction of 14K yellow gold paired with stainless steel. However, what truly sets this example apart is the double stamped UAE logo dial, a feature that immediately elevates it into collector territory. These dials were produced in very limited numbers and feature the old emblem of the United Arab Emirates: a falcon (Quraysh Hawk) with a red disk, which shows an Arab sailboat, surrounded by a chain.
Despite the watch showing honest signs of wear consistent with age, the dial is exceptionally well preserved, with only faint imperfections and perfectly intact lume plots, something rarely seen on examples from this era. The case is paired with its original Jubilee bracelet, and the D clasp code from 1979 correctly matches the case, reinforcing the originality throughout. It's "888" serial may also bring prosperity in the new year.

Condition Report:

Very Good vintage condition. Watch shows light signs of previous polish, but retains sharp bezel flutes and thick lugs. Watch is in honest condition with moderate scratches and dents throughout the case and bracelet. Dial is in near-perfect vintage condition with only faint imperfections under magnification. All lume plots are intact. Bracelet shows medium stretch and fits a large wrist size of 8", however some of the extra links are not removable. Watch has a new replacement acrylic crystal. Watch was just serviced and meets expected timekeeping standards with a 5-position average reading of -0.4 S/D | 241° AMP | .0 MS BE.

Condition Grade: 8.5/10
